John Rambo adalah seorang veteran dari perang Vietnam, kini ia sedang bepergian untuk menemui rekan-rekan semasa perangnya, lalu ia menumpang dari satu kota ke kota lainnya. Sampai ia akhirnya tertangkap oleh sherrif di salah satu kota dengan alasan menggangu kenyamanan setempat.
